Adamax
aka Adamax peptide · adamax · adamax nootropic · adamantyl semax · adamantane semax · semax adamantane · N-acetyl semax adamantane · acetyl semax adamantane · adamaks
Grade
A 'stronger Semax' nootropic sold online with an adamantane group bolted on, which has never been studied in people, animals or even lab dishes.
- Class
- Sold as a modified version of the Russian peptide Semax with an adamantane (a bulky carbon cage) group attached; no published primary source confirms its exact structure
- Evidence
- Grade F · Negligible evidence / harm
- Sport / WADA
- Prohibited at all times under S0 (non-approved substances). It is not named on the WADA Prohibited List, but S0 bans any substance not covered by another section that has no current approval by any government health authority for human therapeutic use, and Adamax has no such approval anywhere.

Grade F · Negligible evidence / harm
Why this grade
There is no published research on Adamax itself: no human trials, no animal studies and no lab-dish studies indexed on PubMed, no registered trials on ClinicalTrials.gov and no PubChem record. Even its exact chemical structure is known only from seller descriptions. Every claimed benefit is borrowed from Semax, whose own evidence is limited. F here means negligible evidence, not documented harm. This is lower than N-Acetyl Semax Amidate (D) because that compound at least has an agreed structure, while Adamax has no published footprint at all.
What is it?
Why people buy it
People buy it for focus, memory and mood. Sellers call it a stronger, longer-lasting Semax.
What we actually know
- •Sellers say it is Semax with an extra chemical group added. Semax is a Russian medicine for stroke and memory problems.
- •There are no published studies on Adamax. Not in people, not in animals, not in lab dishes.
- •Nobody has published proof of what it actually is. Its make-up comes only from sellers.
- •It is not a licensed medicine in the UK. Neither is Semax.
What might happen
- •There is no proof it does anything. All the claims are borrowed from Semax.
- •Nobody knows its side effects or long-term risks. It has never been tested.
- •The added group is meant to help it reach the brain more easily. Nobody has checked if it does, or if that is safe.
- •It is sold online as 'not for human use'. Nobody checks what is in the bottle.
- •In sport, it is banned at all times. Unapproved drugs count as banned.
Bottom line
A tweak of a little-tested Russian drug, with no studies of its own. Nobody knows what it does.
Know someone taking this?
Send on WhatsAppIt is like an aftermarket part for a car that has only ever had a few road tests in one country. The part has no manual, no crash tests and no agreed design, just a sales pitch saying it makes the car faster.
How is it meant to work?
Unknown. No study has examined how Adamax acts. Sellers assume it works like Semax, which in animals raises brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and nerve growth factor and influences dopamine and serotonin systems, and claim the adamantane group helps it cross into the brain and resist breakdown. None of this has been tested for Adamax, and adding a large chemical group to a peptide can change or abolish its activity.
What's it studied for?
Research contexts. Not proven uses, and not recommendations.
Does the human evidence stack up?
None. There are no human trials, case reports or published safety data for Adamax, and no animal or lab-dish studies either. The parent compound Semax has some human data, mostly small Russian stroke studies of limited quality, but those do not apply to a chemically different compound.
What could go wrong?
- !Completely untested: no human, animal or cell studies, so effects and risks are unknown.
- !Its structure is known only from seller descriptions; different products may not even be the same molecule.
- !Claimed better brain entry is unverified; if true, it could also change side effects in unpredictable ways.
- !Grey-market products are unregulated, so identity, purity, sterility and strength are unverified, a particular problem for nasal sprays and injections.
- !Marketing presents it as an upgraded Semax, borrowing evidence that does not apply to it.
Is it legal in the UK?
Adamax is not a licensed medicine in the UK and has never been assessed or authorised by the MHRA. Neither it nor Semax holds a UK marketing authorisation. It is not a controlled drug. It is sold as an unlicensed 'research chemical', typically labelled 'not for human consumption' to sidestep the Human Medicines Regulations 2012; selling or supplying it as a medicine for people would breach those rules. There is no lawful route to obtain it in the UK as a medicine.

Peptides are freeze-dried for a reason. If you have seen Adamax sold pre-mixed in a ready-to-use pen or syringe, here is why that is a red flag for potency, sterility and dosing.
